The midfielder fell out of favour in North London

Attacking midfielder Lewis Holtby has today joined Budesliga side Hamburger SV on a permanent deal from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

The German international hasn’t been in favour at White Hart Lane since 2014 and spent the back end of the 2013/14 season on loan at fellow London club Fulham.

During the last campaign Holtby played for Hamburg on a season-long loan spell from Spurs, with a view to a permanent move; this option has today been exercised.

The 24-year old is back in Germany

Holtby is back in Germany to stay, as he previously played for Bundesliga side Schalke 04 before moving to Tottenham in 2013.

He made 14 appearances in all competitions for Hamburg last campaign and today joined his permanent new teammates for pre-season training.
