Valencia centre-back set to join Manchester City over Manchester United
Manchester City are on the verge of signing Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia with the Argentine set to undergo a medical at the club, according to Sky Sports News.
The centre-back has been strongly linked with a move away from La Liga this summer, but it was expected he’d join Manchester United, with Louis Van Gaal a huge admirer of the defender.
However, City entered the race and moved quicker than their local-rivals and managed to agree a fee with the Spanish side.
Otamendi to City
It’s not yet understood how much Manuel Pellegrini‘s side will be paying for the 27-year-old, but the two teams have agreed on a fee and the defender will now undergo a medical at City.
It was reported that the deal could see Eliaquim Mangala go the other way on a season-long loan, but that has been dismissed.
