Legend to stay at Old Trafford
Wayne Rooney has confirmed that he will be staying at Manchester United.
Rooney’s agent, Paul Stretford, recently flew out to China to discuss possible deals with clubs out there and the player was considering a move.
However, the United legend, who recently became the club’s highest goalscorer, has confirmed he won’t be going anywhere.
His statement read: “Despite the interest which has been shown from other clubs, for which I’m grateful, I want to end recent speculation and say that I am staying at Manchester United.
“I hope I will play a full part in helping the team in its fight for success on four fronts.
“It’s an exciting time at the club and I want to remain a part of it.”
The Chinese transfer window closes on February 28 and United manager Jose Mourinho said earlier in the week that he could not guarantee that Rooney would remain with the club.
But now the player has quashed those rumours and confirmed he will remain at Old Trafford for the forseeable future.
