Officials at Anfield still back under-fire boss

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been given the backing by the club’s board despite their poor season, according to reports.

The Reds have suffered a horrid season, crashing from Premier League Runners-Up to a sixth-placed finish and have yet again failed to win a single piece of silverware.

Season Shortcomings

Liverpool made it to two Semi-Finals but lost on both occasions, once to Chelsea in the Capital One Cup and then to Aston Villa in the FA Cup.

As well as their cup shortcomings, they won’t be in the Champions League next season either after failing to finish in the top-four. Costly defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal back-to-back all-but ended their hopes.

The make matters worse, Liverpool ended the season in embarrassing fashion as they fell to a 6-1 defeat away at Stoke City. The Reds were 5-0 down at half-time.

After the game, Rodgers admitted that the season was a failure and the final game was a disgrace, but he also said that he would walk if the owners wanted him out.

Managers Available

However, according to reports today, the board still believe in Rodgers and won’t be replacing him over the Summer despite several managers becoming available.

Jurgen Klopp has announced he’s leaving Borussia Dortmund, Carlo Ancelotti has been sacked by Real Madrid and Rafael Benitez is expected to leave Napoli at the end of the season.

Despite some big managerial names becoming available, Liverpool will continue to support Rodgers and will still back in to turn the club’s fortunes around.

Rodgers’ Anfield Woes

Since taking over at Anfield, Rodgers has spent over ÂŁ200million on new signings, which most have been deemed failures, including most signings made last Summer in order to replace Luis Suarez.

As well as failures in signings, Rodgers has yet to win a trophy during his time at Liverpool becoming the club’s first ever manager to take longer than three years to win something.

Not only do Liverpool have on-field matters, they also have issues off it with Raheem Sterling causing all sorts of controversy.

The winger has informed the club that he doesn’t want to sign a contract extension and that he wants out of the club which could mean they lose their star player twice in two seasons.

Despite all the negativity and the rough times around Anfield, Rodgers will still be in charge come next season.
