Chairman of Danish club has left

Chelsea defender John Terry won’t be ending up at Brondby after all as the Danish club have parted-ways with their chairman.

The former-chairman of the club is good friends with Terry, and according to reports, he was ready to offer the veteran defender a player/coach role within the club.

However, since then, Brondby have parted ways with the chairman after he decided not to run for election.

It’s claimed Jan Bech Andersen had been criticising the club and some of it’s officials on a fans forum under a false name, and since then, the club has been in turmoil.

However, Andersen has cleared the air and has decided to leave the club after releasing a statement confirming his intentions.

Statement

“After careful consideration, I have decided not to seek re-election as chairman of Brondby IF,” Andersen told the club’s official website.

“It has been an absolute privilege, an honour, to be chairman of what in my eyes is the most unique and fascinating football club in Denmark.

“I have always said that I subscribe 100 per cent to the idea that nobody is bigger than the club.

“The focus must always be on the club and not a single individual.

“Due to the large media focus that’s been on my person the last few weeks, I have decided that it is best for the club that I did not seek re-election to the board.”

Terry was a potential candidate for the manager’s job at Brondby, but with the chairman and his friend now leaving the club, it’s looking unlikely that it will happen.
