Ramon Calderon has claimed that Chelsea manager Jose Mouinho could not handle the pressure of the Real Madrid hotseat.

Former president Calderon claims that the club was in a bad way after the Special One left to take over at Stamford Bridge in 2013, replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti has guided Real to the Champions League title last season.

Calderon told BBC World Service: “To be a manager of Real Madrid is really, really difficult.

“See what happened to Mourinho. He is someone who is used to coping with pressure and he couldn’t.

“When Mourinho left, things were in a really bad situation. He had to leave the club after three years of a lot of problems, a lot of confrontations.

Calderon went on to hint that the club may hire Germany manager Joachim Low in the future.

He added “I have read Low is one manager we would like but it is always rumour and we will have the rumours until the next five months when it is decided whether definitely Ancelotti will be here”.
