Midfielder hails Anthony Martial
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has praised his teammate Anthony Martial, claiming he has ‘frightening’ skills.
Martial burst back into form last night after struggling to get into Jose Mourinho’s team this season, by scoring two goals in the EFL Cup quarter final against West Ham at Old Trafford, a game United won 4-1.
He said: “The ability and attributes he has got are frightening at times. When he is on fire he is a threat to anyone.
“He started the game terrifically well against West Ham. And he grew as the game went on. It is great to see him playing like that. He is fully confident and believing. There is plenty more to come from him, which is a good sign for us.”
Asked if he had tried to help Martial come through his form slump earlier this season, Carrick added: “You try and help when you can. I am not one of those who has big chats with people.
“In all sorts of different situations you try to give a bit of advice if you feel you can. It depends what the situation is really.”
