Real have reportedly cited United’s Gea as their no. 1 choice

With the Real Madrid legend’s contract nearly up, David De Gea appears to be his long term successor.

Ever since Jose Mourinho relegated the shot stopper to the bench and replaced him with Diego Lopez there has been speculation about a possible exit for Casillas.

When asked about the situation, Casillas admitted he wanted to win the “highest” number of titles during the rest of his time.

He added: “I hope to fulfil my contract and a commitment that is signed has to be signed until the end.”

Despite the World Cup winner reclaiming no. 1 spot under Carlo Ancelotti, Real are still prepared to accept offers on the table, with Arsenal and Liverpool among the interested parties.

Calderon rejects De Gea move

Ex Real president Ramon Calderon believes the whole situation arose, during the time when Jose Mourinho was in charge at the Bernabeu.

Calderon won two league titles with Madrid and thinks Casillas is “one of the best three” keepers in world football and that it is too early to sign De Gea.

The Spanish international “would fill Casilla’s void with great warranties” according to Calderon and there are reports De Gea is stalling on a new deal to encourage Madrid.
