The statement extinguishes any possibility of the Uruguayan joining either Wenger or Van Gaal’s sides.

PSG striker Edinson Cavani has today revealed that he will be staying with the French champions.

Rumours of Cavani‘s unhappiness in the French capital had sparked rumours of a likely exit from Paris, with the 28-year-old frequently being played out wide in order to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

But speaking to French paper, Le10sport, he confirmed that these rumours were false.

“Any comments, all these things that are said, we should remember the subject and when I mentioned it.

“I did not mention the city of Paris, club, organisation.”

The former Napoli man went on to speak of how it was the positional change that had slightly unsettled him.

Cavani Happy in Paris

“What I said is that I used to play in the centre and it cost me to go to one side, which is normal.

“When you are used to performing a task, it is not obvious to switch to another.

“Everything related to my private life, family, I’m happy. I feel very happy in Paris. I hope I can make it. I will give everything for them.

“This year is completed. It motivates me more. I am very happy there and we hope everything will continue as well.”

Cavani had also been strongly linked to Italian champions Juventus earlier in the summer as a possible replacement for Carlos Tevez.

But his commitment to PSG has completely killed off talk of his departure.

However, this commitment from Edinson Cavani, could pave the way for the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, perhaps with the number nine being promised the central role next season.

The 33-year-old is also rumoured to be on his way from the club, with former employees AC Milan rumoured to be interested in taking back the big Swede.
