Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech reckons the club’s sensational season far comes down to them having second season syndrome.
The Blues are heading into the Festive period top of the Premier League, safely into the Champions League knockout phase, and this week qualified for the Capital One Cup semi-finals, where they will meet Liverpool.
And the Czech stopper said:
“It’s a team that played together last season with some additions.
“For the manager it’s an advantage to have a team in the second season as he got to know the team last season and everybody could settle in with the way we want to play.
“I think all the people that have come in this season have been doing remarkably well.
“Hopefully we all stay fit and the manager can use the whole squad because in this busy period you need everybody.
“This team has the potential and the quality to be one of the best in Chelsea’s history – if it can prove it by winning trophies.”
Chelsea will face Paris St-Germain in the second round of the Champions League, and have Christmas and New Years games against Stoke, West Ham, Southampton and Tottenham, before entertaining Watford in the Third Round of the FA Cup.
