Cesar Azpilicueta wants to break unique Chelsea record

Cesar Azpilicueta is, without doubt, one of the best Chelsea defenders of all time. The Spaniard has had 3-4 bad games in his 5-year spell at the club so far and is now the club vice-captain.

The defender, who’s played as a right-back, left-back and a centre-back currently holds the record of playing in 74 consecutive matches in the league.

Speaking about the unique record, Cesar said, “I never thought about the amount of games I played in a row, 90 minutes in all of them. But I would try to beat that mark, and I’m pleased for the number of games because I know it’s difficult.”

Asked if he is exhausted and needs a break, he replied, “Of course I want to play every game. We are a team, the manager makes the best decisions for the team. He sees the performance, the training.”
