Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United all wanted him

Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda has revealed a trio of Premier League clubs wanted to sign him in January.

The youngster is struggling to break into Chelsea‘s first-team and is reportedly growing frustrated with the lack of opportunities for the youths at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have a reputation of not promoting youth players into their first-team, and Musonda is worried that he will never further his career unless he moves away from the club.

With his future uncertain, the teenager was attracting interest from rival clubs in the Premier League, and the midfielder has now revealed that Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United all approached him back in January.

Eventually Musonda joined Real Betis on a six-month loan-deal, but it could have been different had Chelsea been open to selling him permanently.

Musonda Reveals Interest

“Nobody could know what Jose Mourinho had in mind for me,” he told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad.

“It was simple, many English clubs wanted to buy me.. Manchester United, City, Arsenal, but a loan was the only option for Chelsea.

“Only one thing matters to me – playing, whether I return [to Chelsea] or not.

“There was interest from France, Netherlands and my ex-coach Yannick Ferrera, who I speak to a lot, wanted me at Standard Liege.

“But I did not want to return to Belgium and in the end I joined Betis.”
