Rafael Benitez is closing in on his first signing for life back in the Premier League after agreeing a fee with Chelsea for winger Christian Atsu

It is understood that both clubs have now reached agreement on a deal which will cost Newcastles around of £6.5.

It’s said Benitez is a big fan after the Ghanian spent this Championship season on loan with Rafa’s title-winning side.

However, it is also reported that there is still a bit to go before the transfer is completed.

Atsu made 32 league appearances and scored five goals for Newcastle this season either side of a trip to the African Nations Cup with Ghana, who lost to eventual winners Cameroon in the semi-finals.

According to SkySports news reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Atsu has now agreed to a four year deal

Atsu joined the Blues in a £3.5m move from Porto during the summer of 2013.

Although he still hasn’t played a first-team game for Chelsea. He’s had loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem, Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga as well as Newcastle
