Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly preparing a bid for Turkish youngster Hakan Calhanoglu. The talented prospect has been a key first-team starter this season for Bundesliga strugglers Hamburger SV, showing his worth scoring 11 goals in just 32 outings.

The 20-year old attacking midfielder, who can also play out wide has been linked with moves to Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen but is believed to prefer a move to the Premier League this summer. Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho is keen to move for a new midfielder after the release of Frank Lampard was confirmed yesterday. Mourinho believes that Calhanoglu is an exciting prospect and matches all the criteria he expects from a midfielder.

Arsene Wenger is aware that the gunners need more vigorousness and energy and wants Calhanoglu to keep Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere on their toes next season so that they can live up to the expectation of ‘title challengers’. This however will be quite a hard task for Wenger as they lack the financial superiority of Chelsea, who are also interested in the player.

Hakan Calhanoglu has expressed his desire to leave as quickly as possible and stated:

“I told them [Hamburg] that I want to go – no matter whether we player in the first or second division.

“I would definitely leave Hamburg. The fact is, I want to play in Europe and I want to make my parents happy.

“I want to go as far as Ronaldo and Messi. I want to be a world star.”
