Giants to make £25million offers

Chelsea and Manchester City are leading the race to sign Everton defender, John Stones, in a £20million transfer move in the summer.

The 20-year-old has impressed Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho and Manchester City manager, Manuel Pellegrini, with a range of world class performances this season, according to the Daily Mail.

The centre-half, who can also play right-back, has featured four times for England, and moved to Everton from Barnsley in 2013 for approximately £3million after snubbing a move to Wigan Athletic.

City and Chelsea Interest

Manchester City are looking to strengthen their defensive options for next season as they have conceded more goals this campaign than any other top four side and Pellegrini wants to pair Stones and captain, Vincent Kompany together.

However, City face tough competition from Chelsea to sign the England international as Mourinho, realises that his captain, John Terry, will be retiring in a couple of seasons to come and wants Stones to replace the veteran defender.
