Chelsea are preparing for a bid from Atletico Madrid to re-sign striker Diego Costa- as Simeone says “if he comes, I stay”

Atletico boss Simeone admitted he is considering his future after losing his second Champions League final in three seasons to Real Madrid at the weekend. But it is understood he will stay if the club back him in the transfer market by signing a new big-name striker,  with former frontman Costa his No.1 target.

Chelsea have so far refused to negotiate over the Spain star, who joined Chelsea for £32m back in 2014, after impressing on the European and domestic stage for Atletico Madrid. It is said by those at Chelsea that the player is happy to stay at Stamford bridge, despite the possibility of having to fight for his place in the squad under a new manager.

However, those at Atletico have stated that he would be interested in a return to La Liga.

If Chelsea get their way in Bringing Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku back to London, then Costa will definitely have to fight for his place, which could potentially see him forced out of the club.

Atletico were lining up Edinson Cavani as a potential alternative to Costa but he does not want to leave Paris St-Germain.
