Chelsea are looking at highly rated German youngster Max Meyer in an attempt to prize the talented German away from Schalke…..and the prying eyes of Germany’s top sides with the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund both interested in the attacking midfielder.

The blues are yet to make an official bid for the starlet but it is understood that Mourinho is a nig fan of the German youngster after Meyer impressed for Schalke in the recent Champions League fixtures between the two sides recently, as Chelsea ran out winners on both occasions.

he 18-year-old is the latest youngster from Die Knappen’s youth ranks to make a splash in the first team in recent years.

He follows in the footsteps of talented 20-year-old playmaker Julian Draxler, who has already turned down a move to the Premier League in order to stay with the Bundesliga outfit as Schalke look to build a new era full of home grown talent. Draxler ia already a senior German international having impressed in the World Cup Qualifiers. Mourinho has also took a shine to Germany under-21 defender Sead Kolasinac, who the Stamford Bridge side will look to build for a future after the ‘ Old Guard ‘ .

Chelsea had apparently made a ÂŁ12 million bid for the young star, but Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt said there had been no bid made by Chelsea just yet, after speaking to German spoers magezine Kicker. German daily Newspaper Bild has also reported that the youngster is being tracked by Italian side Fiorentina and last season’s champions Juventus, as the race hot’s up to sign one of europe’s top talent.

If the move does come up Meyer will join a whole host of German’s in London, with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Lewis Holtby and Per Mertersacker plying their trade in the capital.

Meyer himself has stated in the German press in a recent interview…… ’m glad that I’m so popular, but I feel very comfortable here,” said Meyer.

“I hope to reach an agreement [regarding a new contract].”

Despite competing with the likes of Draxler, Peruvian international Jefferson Farfan and Ghana star Kevin-Prince Boateng for a starting spot, Meyer has made 15 appearances for Schalke so far this season, scoring four goals.
