Crystal Palace officially sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on season-long loan
The Chelsea midfielder has been linked away for a while now as he was seeking regular football.
Loftus-Cheek becomes Frank de Boer’s first signing as Palace manager, and Chelsea hope the move will enable the 21-year-old to gain regular first-team experience.
His arrival comes after the club confirmed that goalkeeper Steve Mandanda had returned to Marseille following an unsuccessful year which saw him lose his place to Wayne Hennessey.
‘I had the option of coming here and I thought it would be great for me.
‘Living not too far. I was born in Lewisham so it’s not too far from there. Palace is a good club, so I thought it was a good chance to play here and be part of the team.
‘I always remember Palace as a very strong team. They give everything and I would like to be a part of that this season, and give everything I’ve got as well.’
Loftus-Cheek’s half brother Leon Cort also played for Palace between 2006 and 2008, winning Player of the Year during his team with the Eagles, and the Chelsea midfielder will hope to have a similar impact this campaign.
