Blues unhappy with lack of game time for Bamford and Chalobah

Chelsea are considering recalling Patrick Bamford and Nathaniel Chalobah from their loans spells at Crystal Palace and Napoli respectively, in January.

The west London club are concerned that their young duo are not getting enough game time and could recall them to Stamford Bridge by exercising a break clause in their contracts.

Palace boss Alan Pardew has favoured Dwight Gayle up front instead of Bamford, who had a successful spell on loan with Middlesbrough last season, having reached the Championship play-off final.

Chalobah has made just a single appearance for Serie A side Napoli, which came in the Europa League away to Legia Warsaw, which is of great concern to Chelsea.

Bamford: wrong decision

Bamford had the option to join clubs outside of London, but decided to stay local to his parent club and was thought to have the chance to prove himself in the Premier League at Selhurst Park.

However, with just two appearances in the league, both resulting in losses, the 22-year-old forward has made only two other appearances, both coming in the League Cup.

It would be unlikely that either Bamford or Chalobah would be able to make it into an already struggling Chelsea team, and it remains unclear where they will be plying their trade for the second half of the season.

Chelsea are struggling themselves this campaign, sitting 16th in the league, despite having won the title last season.
