Top footballing agent reckons deal could happen in New Year

Chelsea could be finally set to sign their long-term target Paul Pogba once the transfer window reopens in January, according to a top footballing agent.

The Blues made a couple of formal moves for the Frenchman throughout the summer window but were turned down on both occasions with Juventus refusing to sell their star-asset.

According to some reports, Jose Mourinho even phoned Pogba personally to try and convince him to force a move, but nothing materialised before the window shut.

However, Mesrun Izzet believes a deal could be agreed to in January if Chelsea still remain interested in the 24-year-old.

January Deal?

‘Chelsea could sign Pogba when the transfer window opens again,’ he told Turkish Football.

‘That would then open the door for John Obi Mikel to sign for Besiktas.’

Chelsea blocked Mikel‘s proposed move to the Super Lig on Deadline Day after they failed to bring in a suitable replacement, thought to be Pogba.

Several clubs could bid for Pogba in January, especially after Juve‘s officials confirmed that his price-tag will rise this time next year to over £73million.
