Napoli could be prepared to let him go if they sign Eliaquim Mangala on loan

Chelsea are getting closer to a deal for Kalidou Koulibaly after reports emerged that Napoli were planning to loan Eliaquim Mangala as a possible replacement for the defender.

The 25-year old has impressed over in Serie A and has since been on the radar of several European clubs due to his impressive displays. Leading the way for his signature are Antonio Conte’s side.

The Blues have been desperate to bring in Koulibaly for the last few weeks, as they look to add to their defence with the new campaign well underway. Conte’s sides usually perform very well defensively and he has identified the Senegal international as a top target to help his side.

Huge asking price for Koulibaly

They’ve enquired about his availability and been told to pay a huge asking price from his current club Napoli, who are demanding sums of up to ÂŁ60m for his services. Despite this, Chelsea have remained keen to do business.

Although an official bid has yet to be made, Napoli have been on the lookout for a replacement, just in case Koulibaly does depart the club. Now, they may have found themselves one.

Eliaquim Mangala will be allowed to leave Man City due to the fact that they have brought in John Stones, which has pushed the defender further down the current pecking order. With Napoli willing to offer him first-team football as part of a loan deal, they could complete a deal to take him to Italy soon.

If that deal does take place, it would be a huge boost to Chelsea, who could then make their official move for Koulibaly. Napoli could be willing to let the 25-year old leave once they have brought in Mangala, meaning they could lower their asking price slightly and wrap the business up.
