Manager Jose Mourinho is believed to be a fan of the Argentine international

Chelsea officials may well decide to place a bid for the Napoli striker in the summer.

According to Fichajes.net, Mourinho thinks Gonzalo Higuain, who has 18 goals in 37 games, will pose a different threat to current Chelsea frontman Diego Costa.

Higuain is reported to be leaving the Serie A club after a defeat on the final day of the season saw them just miss out on Champions League football.

Should Mourinho decide to pursue the former Real Madrid man he will have to do battle with Arsenal to land the 27-year-old.

Pastures new for Benitez

Former Napoli manager, Rafael Benitez recently swapped Italy for Spain, signing a three-year contract with Real Madrid and promising “quality football” which “wins trophies”.

Benitez also spoke about how he admires Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling – the England international recently rejected a £100,000-a-week deal and has also been linked with a move to Manchester City.

However, he failed to be drawn on the growing speculation surrounding Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea who may well leave Old Trafford this summer.
