The Times claim Antonio Conte met Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich last week to discuss their plans for the future.
The Russian businessman agreed with the former Juventus chief that Costa will leave west London this summer.
It’s suggested Chelsea are keen to find a buyer for the Brazil-born forward.
However, they will consider a loan switch for the first half of the campaign if one does not emerge.
Meanwhile Chelsea’s hunt for Alex Sandro as it’s being reported Conte has found another option and a much better value.
