With Antonio Conte set to become Chelsea’s new boss this summer, another name has been added to the list of targets for the Italian manager- in the form of Leicester Holding midfielder N’golo Kanté.
Often compared the former Chelsea star Claude Makelele, The £5.6m pound midfielder is arguably one of the signings of the season, and has been a key part of Leicester City’s success. It is due to this fact that many high profile clubs are sniffing around the Frenchman, in particular last years champions, Chelsea.
The out of form Premier League champions are said to be massive fans of the 24-year-old midfielder and are keen on making him one of Antonio Conte’s first signings once the current Italy boss becomes their manager during the summer.
Kanté, who has recently been called up to the French international squad, is being tempted to sign a long term contract with the foxes, which is proving to be a spanner in the works for Chelsea, as there could potentially be a battle to sign up the player, who would be an asset to any Premier League Club.
The blues are looking to completely revamp the club this summer after having a torrid time under José Mourinho during the current campaign, and it is understood Kante was identified as a target even before a deal was agreed for Conte to become Jose Mourinho’s permanent replacement.
Ranieri warns of big club moves:
Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri has warned his players that moving to bigger clubs this summer would be a huge risk to their careers, as they are not guaranteed regular first-team football.He was quoted saying: “I tell them, ‘Hey, why do you want to go there? To carry the suitcases? Stay with me. You will play.'”
However, with Chelsea wanting to completely reconstruct their team in the summer, N’Golo Kanté could see himself featuring more than he is expected to, and go on to become one of the true Premier League greats.
