Blues were told ÂŁ34million bid would be accepted

According to reports, Chelsea are furious with Everton after they changed their minds in the last second regarding the sale of John Stones.

It’s believed that Roberto Martinez and co. told the Premier League champions that a ÂŁ34million bid would be accepted for the 21-year-old, only for The Toffees to change their minds at the last minute and reject the offer by Chelsea.

Stones Saga

Jose Mourinho has already seen three bids be knocked back, but was then told by officials from Goodison Park that a ÂŁ34m bid would be accepted, however, after failing to reach an agreement with Barnsley, Everton then changed their mind.

The Premier League side tried to offer Barnsley ÂŁ2.5m to forfeit the sell-on clause which is in Stones‘ contract.

However, the League One outfit rejected Everton’s offer, hoping that the transfer will finally be done before Tuesday, meaning they will still get the 5% they deserve.

The collapse and the miscommunication has left Chelsea officials fuming at Everton because they want to get the deal done as soon as possible, but have been dealt a major setback after the latest twist.

Previous Dealings

Relations between the two are already questionable after Christian Atsu‘ loan move last season.

Everton only played the winger a handful of times which left Chelsea furious because he was promised regular first-team football.

Mourinho and co. have two days to get the Stones deal over the line.
