Lampard full of praise for Chelsea striker
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has suggested that Blues striker Diego Costa is a better striker than Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Costa almost moved away from Stamford Bridge last summer, and in January was the subject of interest from several Chinese clubs, but will be glad he didn’t after a season of fine performances under Antonio Conte.
Both strikers have 17 goals for their respective clubs this season, but Lampard believes that Chelsea would have a more difficult task in replacing Costa than United would replacing Zlatan,
“There are players out there who are that sort of target man/ goalscorer who can run the channels a little bit,” Lampard told Sky Sports.
“When you’re playing up there on your own you need to be a bit of an all-rounder.
“That’s where we talk about Zlatan Ibrahimovic being brilliant, but occasionally people say what does he do for the team?
“With Costa, his mobility and presence and his quality is the difference so again to replace that for Chelsea is a big ask.”
