Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti candidates if Jose Mourinho leaves

Chelsea Football Club could be in search for a new manager if they lose to Liverpool next weekend, with the club already putting together a candidate list.

Jose Mourinho has endured a tricky start to the new campaign on and off the field, with issues in the dressing room, long-term problems with the FA and also with his star players not performing.

Another loss at the weekend to West Ham United has left Chelsea near the bottom of the table after 10-games, and reports have emerged saying a loss next weekend to Liverpool could see the end of the Special One.

If that is the case, Roman Abramovich is already preparing for life after Mourinho and has two men in mind.

Two Replacements In Mind

Both men on the list are actually former-Chelsea managers, who both received the chop from Abramovich during their stints at Stamford Bridge.

Hiddink is the first-one, who is currently unemployed after leaving the role of Netherlands head-coach, and he worked at Chelsea back in 2009 on a one-year deal.

However, he didn’t extend his stay.

After Hiddink left, in came Ancelotti, and he stayed for two seasons, but was sacked in the second campaign following a poor start.

The Italian had guided Chelsea to a league and cup double, but was dismissed by Abramovic the season after.

Whether either of the two potential replacements would return to Stamford Bridge is not yet clear.
