Thibaut Courtois
A mere spectator in the first half, with nothing to do at all apart from trying to keep himself warm.
Nothing really changed in the second half either, as he wasn’t tested until the very end as he clawed a header away, but could do nothing about the goal. 6
Cesar Azpilicueta
Very solid in the first half and a wonderful ball out to the left for Alonso to cross into Willian for the second goal.
When Ethan Ampadu came on it was great to see Azpilicueta guide him through the ten minutes. A decent performance. 7
Andreas Christensen
Not overly tested in the first period, but a decent block to deny Aaron Mooy’s stinging volley from going goalbounds.
Again, like the others had little to do in the second half as far as defending went, but kept his concentration until being subbed off. 7
Antonio Rudiger
Looked composed and effective on the left of the back three. One thing he seems to have in his locker over Gary Cahill is that switch ball to the right, picking out Moses a few times with lovely passes.
Wasn’t tested too much in the second half as well, but right at the end got beaten in the air by Depoitre for the goal. 6
Victor Moses
Had a lot of space in the first half, but couldn’t really make much of it at times. Did well with the header to start the move for the opening goal.
Solid on the right, but couldn’t really use the ball as much as he would have wanted. 6
Marcos Alonso
Was having a quiet first half until he crossed in the wonderful ball over to Willian for the second goal.
Good to really see his crosses doing well and actually causing a few problems in the box. Defensively did well also. 7
Tiemoue Bakayoko
His goal, which might be taken of him, looked like it gave him a world of confidence and he started to be a lot more influential.
Still some areas of his game that need to develop, but after a couple of poor performances, this would give him a lot more confidence. 7
N’Golo Kante
Just picking off everything and covering for Bakayoko to go a little more forward. Excellent work around the midfield.
Did all the hard work in the second half as well with some excellent recovery tackles. Another brilliant display. 8
Pedro
Could have killed the game off in the first half but was denied by Jonas Lossl when through on goal. Quieter in the first half than the other two and too many offsides.
However, a wonderful strike at the start of the second half effectively killed the game off with the third. Could and should have had a couple more. 7
Willian
Worked well with Hazard and playing off the false nine. An assist and a wonderful header in the first half.
His link up play was excellent throughout the game and was brimming with confidence, which is a massive positive going forward. 8
Eden Hazard
Playing as the false nine, dropped off the front to get the ball. Miss his running at defenders at times but his tricks and flicks brings others into play.
Again a few lovely flicks in the second half. Did his job well before being subbed to rest for Saturday. 8
Substitutes
Michy Batshuayi
Didn’t really affect the game much. 5
Danny Drinkwater
Knocked the ball around in the middle of the park well to see out the game. 6
Ethan Ampadu
Great moment to make his Premier League debut and looked assured and confident. 6
