Here you will find the Chelsea player ratings from the Blues 1-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League.

Thibaut Courtois – 7

Breathed a sigh of relief when Bertrand’s cross was cleared away by Cahill in the opening stages. Had to be alert to race off his line to thwart Manolo Gabbiadini, and then made a great save to deny Charlie Austin.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 6

Chelsea’s Mr. Reliable was untroubled at the back and will cherish the clean sheet.

Andreas Christensen – 6

Had a very easy afternoon marking Gabbiadini, but lost concentration for a split second and that almost allowed substitute Charlie Austin to profit.

Gary Cahill – 6

Restored to the XI after being rested against Huddersfield, made a crunching tackle on Cedric which left the Saints right-back needing to be replaced and was on hand to clear Ryan Bertrand’s dangerous cross.

Victor Moses – 6

Battled all afternoon against Bertand, didn’t get forward as much as he would have liked but defended well.

Tiemoue Bakayoko – 7

Deservedly retained his place in midfield ahead of Cesc Fabregas after a much improved showing against Huddersfield, didn’t quite have the same influence from four days ago but came close to scoring on a couple of occasions and produced another encouraging display.

N’Golo Kante – 6

A rare error from the Frenchman early in the game as his misplaced pass put the hosts in danger. Luckily for him it didn’t lead to a goal, tested Forster with an effort from just outside the box.

Marcos Alonso – 8

Was given so much license to get forward at every opportunity that he was operating as the centre-forward at one point in the first-half. Eased the tension around the stadium with a goal right on the stroke of half-time.

Willian – 5

Plenty of effort from the Brazilian, came close to scoring in the first-half but couldn’t steer his effort on target and was often let down by his final ball.

Struggled in the second half and it was a surprise that he remained on the pitch whilst Pedro and Hazard were withdrawn.

Pedro – 7

Caused problems for the Saints with his movement. Comfortable on either flank as well as through the middle, the Spaniard relished playing in this fluid front three. Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet with an effort that hit the post in the first-half.

Eden Hazard – 7

Once again deployed as the main striker in Alvaro Morata’s absence and was always a threat when picking up the ball and turning at the Saints defence. Drew a foul from Maya Yoshida which led to Alonso breaking the deadlock in first-half injury time.

Had a goal correctly ruled out for offside after the break, this was one his more quieter showings overall.

Substitutes

Cesc Fabregas – 7

Replaced Pedro soon after Austin’s chance and almost made an immediate impact when he set up Hazard for a crisp finish, only for the linesman to rule it out for offside.

Then saw his pull-back evade his teammates when all that was required was a tap-in, was noticeable just how much more dangerous the Blues were once he came on.

Alvaro Morata – N/A

Shot straight at Forster from an acute angle within minutes of his arrival.

Davide Zappacosta -N/A

Replaced Moses with less than 10 minutes to go
