Roman Abramovich tells players and staff Italian will be new manager

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has told the players that Antonio Conte will be their next manager after a deal has been struck between the two parties, according to reports.

Abramovich and Conte have been in talks for the past few weeks, with the latest set of negotiations reportedly taking place earlier this week, and it seems like they’ve been able to agree to a deal.

The initial stumbling block was the salary and also the fact Conte wanted to appoint his own sporting director, but according to reports, all has been sorted and the deal has been finalised.

Conte A Done Deal

The 46-year-old will take over the reigns at Stamford Bridge following the Euros in the summer, once he leaves his post as Italy head-coach.

According to reports in Italy, Abramovich has already met with the players and the staff at Chelsea to inform them about Conte’s appointment and how he will be the man replacing Guus Hiddink at the end of the season.

However it’s claimed that Abramovich informed them a day before the Southampton game, which they eventually won 2-1, before beating Norwich City by the same scoreline a few days later.
