Two clubs one player…
The Blues are reported to be ready to battle it out with Liverpool the signature of Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, reports The Daily Mirror.
Chelsea have already snatched up Roma defender Antonio Rudiger in a deal worth an around £29m but have been interested in the Dutchman for a while now.
Van Dijk has informed Southampton he now wants to leave this summer and is even refused to play in order to seal a move away from the club.
Mauricio Pellegrino was hopeful of convincing Van Dijk to stay at the club but the 26-year-old is desperate to join Liverpool.
Liverpool had been expected to sign Van Dijk earlier in the summer but were forced to put any interest on hold after Southampton discovered they had gone behind their backs and approached their captain without permission.
