Blues won’t go any higher for Frenchman

Chelsea have reportedly set a limit of £50million for Juventus star Paul Pogba, despite reports claiming the Serie A champions want around £75m.

The Blues are one of several clubs interested in signing the powerhouse midfielder, but it’s believed their chances of signing him have decreased after their refusal to go over £50m.

Chelsea being Cautious

Jose Mourinho is wary of Financial Fair Play and has spent wisely since his return to Stamford Bridge, and it’s believed he doesn’t think the club can get away with making a £70m+ signing.

Chelsea have recently been working on a ‘one-in, one-out’ basis and after sales of Romelu Lukaku, David Luiz and Juan Mata boosted their accounts, they managed to sign Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa.

Despite not preparing to go up to £70m, Chelsea are still willing to match their record transfer fee of £50m. The West London outfit spent £50m on signing Fernando Torres from Liverpool back in 2011.

It’s believed Roman Abramovich has told team that he’s no longer prepared to throw money at players and only wants to secure deals if the money is right.

The Russian also wants to see more Chelsea graduates in the first-team and has urged Mourinho to start blooding through the youth players into the first-team set-up.

Rival Interest in Pogba

With Chelsea only prepared to spend around £50m, it gives Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain the advantage in the race to sign Pogba.

The Frenchman has quickly become one of the world’s top talents and with the money being away from Italy, he could seek a move this Summer with plenty of options.

According to some reports, City are prepared to offer a transfer fee of £70m and will then offer Pogba a staggering £250k-a-week AFTER tax.
