The Blues are keen to sign the Zenit defender
Chelsea are eyeing a move for Ezequiel Garay, according to reports.
Gianluca di Marzio has claimed that the Blues are rather eager to bring the defender to Stamford Bridge and although there is also interest from Inter Milan, they are confident they can agree a deal.
The Italian side have been keeping a close eye on the Zenit man for quite some time but Chelsea have now also entered the race for his signature and new boss Antonio Conte believes a deal can be done.
The Blues have identified that one of their main targets this summer will need to be another defender, as they believe they need improving defensively, especially with John Terry set to take part a lot less next season.
Available for just £8m
Garay has proven himself at several top teams like Benfica and Zenit and Conte believes he could do a job in England and is ready to launch a move to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Although the Blues had originally been keeping an eye on more high-profile defensive targets, Garay could reportedly be available for just £8m and because of this small fee, Chelsea are much keener to sign the 29-year old.
It won’t be easy to secure his signature with Inter Milan also snooping about and no formal bid has yet been made for the defender but Chelsea are certainly keeping tabs on him and could soon launch an official bid for him.
