The Blues’ rivals Man City have reportedly agreed a deal to sign the defender

Chelsea have been handed a blow in their pursuit of Danilo with the news that Man City have reportedly agreed a deal to sign the player.

The Blues have been tracking the Real Madrid man over the summer, as they have looked to increase their defensive options, mainly in the full-back position.

Danilo was high up on their list of targets and boss Antonio Conte has been hopeful that a deal would soon be done for his services.

However, according to reports this morning, the club could be about to miss out on the 26-year old. Man City have agreed terms over a permanent deal for the defender and a deal is almost done to send the player to the Etihad Stadium rather than to Stamford Bridge.

City also signed Kyle Walker

This comes despite the fact that Pep Guardiola has just signed another full-back in Kyle Walker. Walker, who impressed for Tottenham last year and secured himself a place in the PFA Team of the Year in the Premier League, has joined City for ÂŁ50m.

Guardiola though has moved quickly to launch a move for another full-back in Danilo as he is determined to improve his side as they battle to win the Premier League title next year.

Danilo has not featured for current side Real Madrid as much as he would like and with the club willing to let him leave and with the player himself on the lookout for more first-team action, Conte was willing to bring the player to Chelsea.

But, it now appears like he has lost out on the player to his rivals and he will have to now turn to other full-back targets to sign instead.
