Chelsea star slammed by fans after surprise statement
Chelsea fans have slammed midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko on social media after he said in an interview that he was better than Blues midfield partner Ngolo Kante.
Bakayoko was speaking following his omission from the latest France squad, and was quoted in the Metro recently saying he felt that he as better than some of the players in Didier Deschamps’ squad – teammate Kante included.
“I don’t feel that Adrien Rabiot, N’Golo Kante, Blaise Matuidi or Corentin Tolisso are any better than I am.” said the 23 year-old.
“Still, I respect the coach’s decision and I also respect the players who were called up – they are talented, some of them are friends of mine.”
It’s worth noting that Kante isn’t actually in France’s current squad due to the hamstring injury that had kept him out of action for a few weeks.
Bakayoko has made a good impression at Stamford Bridge after moving from Monaco in the summer, and has formed a solid midfield partnership with Kante and Cesc Fabregas.
However, although he is entitled to an opinion, Chelsea fans didn’t take too kindly to him saying that he is better than the 2016/17 PFA Player of the Year winner.
Kante is held in high regard after playing a crucial role in last season’s Premier League title win, and is considered as one of the most important players in Antonio Conte’s team.
