Chelsea target Leicester City striker

Chelsea have made an approach to Leicester City to sign striker Islam Slimani on loan as they seek to bolster their misfiring frontline before the January window closes.

Antonio Conte is unhappy with the attacking options and wants more cover and competition for Alvaro Morata. He admitted that his club-record signing is struggling to adapt to both playing so regularly and being the focal point up front.

Conte are already closing in on a deal for Roma star Edin Dzeko. The Blues are also targetting Slimani.

Leicester having failed to qualify for European competition this season. And hence, the Algerian would be eligible to play in the Champions League

If Conte gets his way, Morata will be supported by Dzeko and Slimani with Michy Batshuayi loaned out.
