Chelsea targeting former striker for return

Chelsea are aiming to re-acquire the services of Daniel Sturridge, with Antonio Conte looking for a backup after increasingly losing confidence in Michy Batshuayi.
According to a report in Sportsmail, Chelsea is keen on getting back Sturridge, who was with the club from 2009-2013, before moving to Liverpool.
“Sturridge left Chelsea in January 2013 for Anfield due to a lack of game time, but five years later could be making the return trip after being stuck with bench-warming duties this season,” the report said.
With the next World Cup in Russia not far away, Sturridge seems to be aiming to get more game time, but has had a history of breaking down due to injuries, something that has always gone against him.
24-year-old Batshuayi, who scored the goal that made the Blues the title champions last season, seems to have a bleak future at Stamford Bridge and could be on his way out. Having joined Chelsea last year, he has netted seven goals in 28 games.
