Chelsea to battle Besiktas for striker

The Turkish club want to offer Loic Remy a way out of Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea value the player at £10.5 million, but want to keep the Frenchman.

Chelsea will reportedly reject any approach from Turkish side Besiktas to sign their striker Loic Remy.

Remy, however, is reportedly keen on a move away from Stamford Bridge, given the limited first team opportunities he will get next season.

Remy Could be Third-Choice

It is believed that the signing of Radamel Falcao on a season long loan was enough to make up the 28-year-old’s mind on where he wants to play.

Jose Mourinho however, is keen to keep hold of the striker, perhaps due to first choice Diego Costa‘s injury concerns, and Falcao being far from a guaranteed star at Chelsea.

The Portuguese manager may therefore see Remy as an insurance option.

Interest in Remy

Nevertheless, Besiktas are determined to get their man, and are believed to want Remy on an initial season long loan, before making the transfer permanent.

During his time at Chelsea, he netted nine goals in 29 appearances, although only a handful of those were starts. At Newcastle United, the season before, his record stood at an impressive 14 goals in 27 appearances.

There has been plenty of interest in the Frenchman this summer, with fellow Premier League sides also making their interests clear, including Swansea City, West Ham and Crystal Palace.

But Chelsea remain determined to keep their back-up man at the Bridge.
