Mauro Icardi to stay at Inter Milan

Chelsea have been dealt a massive transfer blow after Inter Milan confirmed they won’t be selling star-striker Mauro Icardi over the Summer.

The Blues had been heavily linked with signing the Argentinian international and the striker himself even admitted that it was an honour to see his name being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

However in a recent interview, Inter Milan vice president and former-player Javier Zanetti, confirmed that the club have no intentions of selling one of their star-assets.

Whilst hosting an online Q&A session for fans, Zanetti was asked about Icardi and also Mateo Kovacic, and the former-defender confirmed that the club have intentions of keeping both.

Zanetti said during an online Q&A: ‘The intention is to keep both Icardi and Kovacic.’

Jose Mourinho’s striking plans

Despite Zanetti confirming Inter’s plans, Jose Mourinho may still make a formal move for the striker, who he sees as a perfect replacement for Didier Drogba.

Mourinho was busy last Summer in the transfer market, especially with strikers, as he sold Romelu Lukaku, Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres, before replacing them with Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Drogba.

However, Mourinho is aware that the Ivorian doesn’t have long left in his career and he is keen on finding a replacement as soon as possible with Icardi reportedly top of his list.
