Chelsea’s Conte finds it ‘incredible’ that Moses has been overlooked for so long

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed that he finds it ‘incredible’ that Victor Moses was overlooked for so long after being loaned out three years in a row.

The 25-year-old has put in a number of impressive performances in the 2016/17 campaign, despite average loan spells at Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United in the last three seasons.

As well as having an uncertain future in his time at Stamford Bridge in the past, Moses has had to adapt to a new role under Conte, with the winger converting to be a wing-back in Chelsea’s recent switch to their successful 3-4-3 formation.

Conte has gained applauds from pundits and fans alike for changing Chelsea’s system and getting the most out of his fringe players like Moses, but the Italian gaffer thinks it was obvious that the Nigeria international should have always been involved with the Blues.

“I noticed his potential from the first days of the summer retreat,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Moses has important qualities: technique, physical strength, the ability to cover seventy metres of the pitch.

“I find it incredible that someone like him has been overlooked.”

Moses joined Chelsea in the 2012/13 season after two impressive years at Wigan Athletic, but was then loaned out each summer as soon as Jose Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge.
