Premier League duo targeted by Chinese league

Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney and Chelsea’s John Terry are both wanted in the Chinese Super League as they look to strengthen the image of the game.

Rooney is wanted by Sven Goran Eriksson‘s side Shanghai, but it’s not yet reported which club is interested in landing the Chelsea skipper, who could leave on a free at the end of the season.

Chinese officials are desperate to enhance the reputation and the image of the game in China, and they believe Rooney and Terry are the perfect duo to do so.

In recent years the likes of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka have both played in China, but their stays were short-term and they left quickly due to financial reasons.

Rooney and Terry Targeted

According to reports, Shanghai are ready to offer Rooney a three-year deal worth a staggering ÂŁ75million, but they face an uphill task of getting him to leave Old Trafford and the Premier League.

As for Terry, he’s currently set to become a free agent in the summer once his deal at Stamford Bridge expires in July.

Due to his age, Terry only gets offered 12-month rolling contracts at Chelsea, and it’s yet to be decided whether or not he’ll be offered a new deal.
