Striker’s agent confirms he is not thinking about future

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke is not thinking about his future and speculation linking him with a big-money move to either Manchester United or Liverpool, according to his agent.

The Belgium has re-found his form of last year in recent weeks since Tim Sherwood replaced Paul Lambert at Villa Park and since then, he has been strongly linked with a move away at the end of the season.

Benteke has scored nine goals in his last eight games, including the equaliser against Liverpool in the FA Cup Semi-Final at Wembley, and his form has raised eyebrows from around the league.

United and Liverpool Interest

Both United and Liverpool are in the market for a new striker over the Summer, with The Red Devils potentially losing both Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao, whilst The Reds could lose Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert.

Both strike-forces have been less-than-impressive so far this season and the two managers at the respective clubs want to make drastic changes.

Louis Van Gaal and Brendan Rodgers are both already working on a Summer transfer wishlist and it’s reported that Benteke is on both men’s list.

Agent Speaks

However, according to the striker’s agent, a move away is the last thing on his mind.

“At the moment, there is no interest,” Eris Kismet said on the speculation.

“Every player and staff member is concentrated on avoiding relegation, anything else is just a distraction.

“I know everyone wants the same thing because I watch the games and I think Aston Villa are playing the best football in England right now.”

Asking Price

The 24-year-old is believed to be valued at around ÂŁ30million.
