Guardiola wants Real right-back at the Etihad

Manchester City are ready to open talks with Real Madrid over a £45 million move for right-back Dani Carvajal.

Pep Guardiola is set to take over at City, having won the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich this season, and has left the club a number of targets he wants to see at the club, ahead of next season.

Danny Rose is understood to be a target for the former Barcelona boss, at left-back, while he is hoping City can bring in Carvajal down the right flank.

Real are not keen on selling the 24-year-old, but they would talk to City about a possible deal if they are prepared to reach the £45 million mark.

City have already made enquiries with the Spanish giants, although Carvajal is highly rated at the Santiago Bernabeu, so the Citizens will be prepared for a tough task to land their target.

And that task of acquiring the Spain international will be made harder by the interest of Bayern Munich. But no final decision will be made by Real, on Carvajal’s future, until their Champions League final against local rivals Atletico Madrid is decided.

Arsenal duo Alexis Sanchez and Jack Wilshere are also on Guardiola’s wish list, which could mean there is heavy spending at the Etihad this summer.
