Arsenal have announced that Yaya Sanogo has joined Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the season.

The French striker, who joined The Gunners last Summer, will now spend the remainder of the season at Selhurt Park hoping to gain important first-team experience in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old was strongly linked with a return to his homeland, with Bordeux interested, but Arsene Wenger made it very clear that he wants the striker in England so that he could get used to playing top-flight football.

Sanogo was challenging Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud for a starting spot at the Emirates Stadium, but with no luck breaking into the first-team, a loan move was seen the perfect option for both player and manager.

After completing the deal, Sanogo said: “I think Palace are a good team, I watched the game against Tottenham and it was a great performance from the guys.

“I hope I can help the club have a successful second half of the season.”

Palace boss Alan Pardew added: “We have given him an opportunity, he needs to play more games and I think he’s ready for that and he proved that at Arsenal.

“It’s tough to get in their team but he’s closer to the starting action with us.”
