Chelsea keeper understands why his teammate would leave
Thibaut Courtois believes Petr Cech deserves to be a number one goalkeeper again.
Cech was the Blues number one shot-stopper for many years but since Courtois returned to Stamford Bridge last summer, the Czech Republic international has found it hard to get game time.
The 33-year old has just a year left on his current Chelsea deal and he has been linked with several teams including Arsenal and Liverpool.
“He helped to improve me as a goalkeeper”
Now, teammate Courtois – who has of course taken his spot – claims he understands why Cech would want to leave. He said:
“Of course Petr deserves to be a number one somewhere.
“Our relationship in training was really good. He helped to improve me as a goalkeeper.”
Cech is likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with the Blues reportedly prepared to let him leave and join a rival team. He has been at Chelsea since 2004.
