Star has plans for after retirement

Cristiano Ronaldo is plotting a move into management after he retires from being a player.

The Real Madrid star turns 32 next year, and retirement is likely to be in the back of his mind. He is thought to be planning what he is going to do next with his career.

He currently has a contract with Madrid until the summer of 2018 and although Ronaldo “thinks a lot” about moving into management, he plans on focusing on playing before swapping the pitch for the dugout.

Asked whether he would consider becoming a manager, he told World Soccer: “I think a lot about it.

“In five, six, seven years I might change my mind and become a manager.”

Ronaldo enjoyed a highly successful last campaign winning the Champions League with Real Madrid before guiding Portugal to a historic Euro 2016 win.

And the former world’s most expensive player believes it was his finest season as a footballer.

He added: “Last year was probably my best season.

“As far as titles go, I think so. Every year of my career has been incredible but this one was special.

“We won the first major trophy in Portuguese history and also because Real Madrid won the Champions League.”
