Chelsea legend could be set for MLS

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba could be set for a reunion with Frank Lampard in the MLS as New York City are keen on signing the Ivorian veteran.

The 37-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge in the Summer to bring some much needed experience to the Chelsea side, and after spending the season in-and-out of the first team as expected, it’s now coming to the end of the campaign and Drogba needs to decide what he wants to do next.

Drogba’s Future

Because of his age, The Blues will only offer him a 12-month extension if he chooses to stay, but with his career coming to an end, he may want one final contract worth more than just one season.

Earlier this week Jose Mourinho confirmed that the future of Drogba will be down to the striker and also Roman Abramovich, but with his contract set to expire, teams from American could move in.

Lampard Reunion

New York City are the reported team interested in signing the Ivory Coast man as they want him to link-up with ex-Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard.

The England midfielder is finally set to fly over to America after spending the season on-loan at Manchester City and the two-ex Blues could create a partnership in the MLS.

Previous MLS Interest

Drogba has previously rejected a move to the MLS back in 2012 and instead, chose to join Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.

However, that venture didn’t last long and he ended up signing for Turkish giants Galatasaray, before returning to the Premier League.
