Chelsea’s opening day saw a defeat to Burnley at Stamford Bridge, during which Costa shared his feelings.

In an extensive interview with the Daily Mail’s Adam Crafton, Diego Costa gave his thoughts as the game played out.

At the 3-0 half-time score Costa remarked, “It’s going well for Chelsea, isn’t it?”

“The red card changed the game but anyway, you’ve come a long way and I have nothing to hide. Come on in.”

As the game came to a close, Costa’s father, Zeinha, entered. Zeinha shook his head at the Chelsea score, which Costa responded: “They are two players down, to be fair, Dad.”

Costa also admitted that he misses Premier League action:

“The Premier League is the top. These moments, chasing a game, with seconds to spare,” Costa said about the Premier League’s opening weekend. “It’s what we live for. You saw Arsenal against Leicester? Madness. Then Liverpool? 3-3, last minute! Rooney has scored for Everton! I wouldn’t be human if I didn’t miss those moments.”

The future of Costa is currently in limbo as the Striker has accused Chelsea of treating him like a ‘criminal’ and has threatened to remain at the family home in Brazil until he is sold.
