Frenchman will spend season with Dutch side

Ajax manager Frank De Boer has confirmed that Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo will spend the season on-loan at the club.

The Frenchman has failed to break into Arsene Wenger‘s first-team since arriving from Ligue 1 side Auxerre on a free-transfer, and spent the second half of last season out on loan with Crystal Palace.

Sanogo only netted once for The Eagles, and has only netted one competitive goal for The Gunners, coming in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund.

However, De Boer has now revealed that the striker will join his side for the forthcoming season in order to compete with their main-striker, Arkadiusz Milik.

Manager Confirms Deal

“We needed a striker, a competitor for Ark [Milik],” De Boer said.

“You can not just one striker in the selection. So we checked with our connections and so we came up with Sanogo.

“At Arsenal he did not get the chance. In the Dutch league he can make the right steps.”
