€100 million-rated striker asks Barcelona to sign him

Barcelona are still on the lookouts for a striker and they have been handed a major boost. As per reports in the Daily Mail, Antonie Griezmann has asked the club to activate his release clause so that he can move to Camp Nou next summer.

The French international has a €100 million release clause in his current contract at Atletico Madrid but it will double up next summer. Any club that wishes to sign him has to activate the release clause before the season ends and Barcelona are reportedly keen on doing that.

Griezmann was set to join Manchester United last summer but the move was abandoned by the striker himself. The clubs had agreed a fee and he too had agreed terms for the move but when CAS upheld Atletico’s transfer ban, he decided to stay at the club and help them.

The Red Devils had reportedly dropped their interest in him after they snapped up Romelu Lukaku. However, with the Belgian not going hitting the levels expected of him, Jose Mourinho is set to reignite his interest in the Frenchman.

With Barcelona now interested, it’s going to be very difficult for United to sign him. Apart from Manchester United and Barcelona, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keeping tabs on the striker.
